How to choose a limit switch sensor?

A limit switch sensor is a mechanical element that enables to establish an electrical dry contact.

To choose a limit switch, you need:

  • to determine the stop form that interests you because it exists different stop heads.
  •  to choose the limit switch size according to the available space.

  • to choose the intensity passing in the contact. If the intensity is too weak, you need to think about connecting a relay.

For example:

– for a MKV, the contact withstands 16A in 250V

– for a FM, the contact withstands 10A in 500VDC 600VAC

– for a RL6, the contact withstands 16A in 250V

  • to choose the function that interests us on the limit switch: number of Normally Open, number of Normally Closed, number of contact openings according to the direction…
